Course to upskill nurses working with COVID-19 patients launches in Italy
In Italy, a group of medical, academic, nonprofit, and private sector partners launched a new, free training course to upskill nursing staff working with COVID-19 patients. The lessons offer practical and immediately applicable support in the areas of: use of personal protective equipment, non-invasive ventilation, and stress management in emergency situations. To date, 32,000 nurses have enrolled in the program and 73% of them have already completed it.
The course is divided into three modules with a total duration of 8 hours. It is available on the website of the National Federation of Orders of Nursing Professions (FNOPI) and provides continuing education credits to qualified participants who take it and successfully pass the assessments. Course instructors are professionals from Vita-Salute San Raffaele University.
Generation Italy created the demonstration-based learning experience for this online course that shares the clinical expertise of medical and academic partners. The course also provides a series of assessments to ensure knowledge mastery, the passing of which yields continuous medical education credit.
The course modules cover the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), non-invasive ventilation, and stress management in crisis situations.
The partners involved in the project are: Generation Italy, coordinating the partnership and the online learning experience; Vita-Salute San Raffaele University and the San Donato Group, scientific partners; Intesa Sanpaolo, project partner for course production and promotion; Sky Italia, media partner in the production of the video lessons; and FNOPI-National Federation of Nursing Professions Orders, delivery partner and national accreditation provider.
