5 WAYS WE ARE CARING FOR OUR COMMUNITY
THE CAUSE is a team of faithful volunteers, who go out into the local neighbourhood, providing practical /basic help around the home at no cost, such as gardening, lawn mowing and odd jobs on the last Saturday of each month.
LIFE CARE (FOOD CO-OP) is about supporting our community with groceries at low cost and sometimes no cost prices. Operating out of our northern campus at Coombabah, open each Thursday and Saturday from 9am til 12pm for ongoing clients who produce their Centrelink cards, showing that they are in receipt of any form of pension/sole parent/low income/student or newstart allowance.
OASIS is a ministry committed to strengthening and empowering sole parent families for greatness, providing connection, support and encouragement both within the Church and out in the community. We have Oasis connection days and kids/youth programs for fun and activities with the family.
EMPOWER is an inspiring partnership with a local Gold Coast women’s refuge. This year, we are renovating the children’s playground, common room and counselling room and phase 2 is a makeover for the living quarters, engaging the generosity of our Church, local business and government grants for funding and sponsorships. Our desire is to help bring a sense of value and dignity to this safe place, for a few weeks or even just for one night!
WHITE BUTTERFLY PROJECT exists to support those individuals and families who have lost children during a pregnancy. It is a community initiative extended from the heart of Generation Church here on the Gold Coast. For some, this is an annual event in the life of your family and friends as a memorial to those you have lost; for others it serves the purpose of a one-off event that brings closure to a chapter in your life. If there is any way that we can support you or someone you know who has experienced this kind of loss, then we would love to come alongside their journey. No one needs to do this journey alone!! Join us on the 9th May from 7am//at Delfin House, Varsity Lakes, for a day to remember those precious children. Visit us at www.whitebutterflyproject.org for more information and stories.
Help us to help the many communities in need! Many hands make light work and YOU could be the solution! If you are inspired to volunteer or make a contribution to these opportunities to help people, please contact Jacquie Hoyes in the first instance at jacquie.hoyes@generation.org.
